Good Evening All,

As we, the Howard University Middle School of Mathematics and Science kick off the school year, I would like to present everyone with our first volunteer opportunity. This volunteer event includes our entire school traveling to the DC Armory for a STEM expo event. Event Name: The Dream Tour

Organization: The Harris Foundation (www.theharrisfoundation.org) & the ExxonMobil Foundation

Date: Friday, October 14, 2011

Event Start Time: 10:30 am              

Event End Time: 12:00 pm

Location: DC Armory

Volunteer times: 7:30 am/8:30 am – 12:30 pm (5/4 hours)

Attire: jeans or khakis and comfortable shoes (shirts will be distributed upon arrival)

Description of event: The Dream Tour, created by Dr. Bernard Harris, The Harris Foundation and the ExxonMobil Foundation, is a motivational program that encourages America’s middle school students to find and achieve their potential.  At the same time, the technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) as a means to fulfill their dreams.  Dr. Harris, a physician, businessman and the first African American to walk in space, delivers an engaging and educational program to students through The Dream Tour program.  He serves as a role model to inspire students to believe in themselves and “shoot for the stars.”
