Hilads, im using an av2hdmi converter on a samsung 4k tv and i can only get 576i on 50hz. 480p is greyed out. My wii is bought from a thrift store but im pretty sure its legit, it has the gamecube ports. Its version is 4.3e. if i put it at 480i then the screen tears and is discoloured, tho strangely when i run ntsc games through usbloader its normal. Anyways, any more info i can give in order to r solve my issue and get 480p?

@panos21sonic It seems like you are using composite AV cables for the Wii (the yellow one). These cables cannot handle 480p. You can get a HDMI adapter specifically for the Wii, such as this one -Adapter-hdmi1080p-Connect... .These make use of the component output from the Wii instead of composite. This allows it to use 480p

After the new Update 4.0.0 the tv resolution is stuck at 480p and I can't change it.

Right befor I did the update everthing was fine with the right resolution of 1080p.

Does anyone know how to fix it? I didn't found anything about it. It seems I'm the only one with this issue.

Thanks inb4

It's as it should be for me, thankfully. Usually the first thing to try to solve an issue is a full reset. Hold the power button down for 12 seconds, power off and then leave it off for a few minutes. Hopefully this works for you both.

Tried full resetting it, and I have the latest 4.0.1 update, but my monitor is still stuck at 480p... It was completely fine running at HD before the 4.0 update, but even the 4.0.1 update didn't fix my problem... Any help? (Dell monitor, by the way.)

i had my wii hooked up to an hdtv for the first time a while back and tried out 480p with newer games. the tv has a display that indicates what resolution it's receiving; it changed from 480i to 480p when i made the change in the wii's settings, just as you'd expect. then, i tried playing virtual console games the tv's display still indicated that it was recieving a 480p signal.

i expected the resolution to drop back to 480i the moment i began playing older games, but somehow the wii continues to output a 480p signal. obviously these games weren't coded in 480p, so it's not truly going to look like 480p, but maybe the wii has some ability to deinterlace the old games before outputting them? from nintendo's site-

apparently VC games, n64 especially, do have some graphical upgrades. nintendo 64 games are known to output in 480p; older vc games may just be 240p, which is automatically doubled up to 480 by your tv. at any rate, you'll wind up with a signal that your tv interprets as 480p. not a big deal, but still kind of cool; it may be enough to get me to buy majora's mask a second time.

None of the PAL titles I have seem to output at 480p, with the exception of the TG16 games though. N64, Neo Geo and Megadrive don't seem to from the titles I've purchased. I would have liked the N64 PAL releases to though.

While watching videos in your daily life, you might notice that there is a wide range of resolutions you can choose, like 480p, 720p, 1080p, 1440p, etc. Obviously, the higher the number, the better the video quality. But do you really know each video's resolution and related terms? If not, you will benefit here. This page introduces everything about 480p Resolution, including 480p size, 480p aspect ratio, etc., and even shows you the difference between 480p, 720p, and 1080p. Now, let's dive into it!

Resolution is usually a measure used to describe the sharpness and clarity of an image as well as a video, and it is expressed in terms of the number of pixels that can be displayed both horizontally and vertically, like 640 x 480, 888 x 480p, and more. As for the pixel, it is the smallest square point on a monitor screen that emits a specific color.

Often, if your video or image contains more pixels (The number of pixels displayed horizontally x the number of pixels displayed vertically), your image or video has a better quality. You can easily see the details of the image or video, even if you zoom in.

After knowing the Resolution, let's discuss the 480p Resolution now. The 480p Resolution means there are 480 pixels in the vertical plane of the video or screen. Normally, it has a display of 640 x 480, which means there are 640 pixels in the horizontal line of the screen or video and 480 pixels in the vertical plane. This typical 480p Resolution has an aspect ratio of 4:3 and is often used in North America, Japan, and Taiwan.

Moreover, you might also want to learn 4801p resolution data storage. On average, an hour of 480p resolution video will take up about 500 MB of storage space, and it will be different according to the video bitrate and storage resolution.

Aside from that, there are two popular 480p resolutions, and they are 480p24 and 480p30. The numbers after p indicate the frame rate, such as 24 fps, 30 fps. The higher the frame rate, the smoother your video's playback.

To conclude, if you need to store a lot of videos and movies, the 480p Resolution is the best, as it takes less storage space. But if you have a high requirement of image clarity and smoother video framerates, you can take 720p and 1080p into consideration.
