Mistake is that one day when I ran Teeworlds, I had such a mistake as in the screenshot, there was no two files: autoexec.cfg & settings.cfg .I do not know how they were gone, maybe they do not even disappeared, but after then I erased everything related files Teeworlds, even folders \Roaming. I was playing through Steam, but first run Teeworlds was from the official site, even before this game appeared on Steam, so these files have been created already, perhaps. My friend gave me the folder that was before I had the path C:\Users\??????\AppData\Roaming\Teeworlds (that is, he gave me a folder Teeworlds, which are files (see the screenshot, the red frame), but it did not help. I tried to play through Steam, and version from the official site, but it did not help too.
Besides, you can specify the path to the folder itself, I tried to do it, but it did not work or I did it wrong
It's been translated using Google translator, I'm Russian, but you must help me :D
I can load autoexec.cfg once I place the file into C:\Users\%MyUserName%\Saved Games\Nightdive Studios\Quake ad use command exec autoexec.cfg in Quake console. However it won't load automagically. How do I do it? Some extra commands are removed in kexengine.cfg once game loads.
Sorry, still asking initial question since +exec autoexec.cfg and -exec autoexec.cfg in target of shortcut are not working for me. My Quake Enhanced EXE is located in C:\Program Files\Quake Enhanced and I'm using GOG release. Other target options like -skipmovies are working.
autoexec.cfg
Quake II automatically searches for a file called AUTOEXEC.CFG every time a new game is launched. If it finds the file, it will automatically execute any commands contained there. Simply create a text file called AUTOEXEC.CFG, add whatever commands you want, and place the file in both your main /Quake2 and /Quake2/baseq2 directories. Among the settings you can put in there are video and sound settings, player controls, and internet settings.
I have the Allied Assault Warchest from GOG. I have an autoexec.cfg for the base game and it works fine changes settings and resolution no problem. However, I cannot seem to get it to work for the expansions. I have placed it in the main folder as well as mainta and maintt and it just doesn't seem to work at all.
I don't remember this stuff very well, what is it that you were trying to do, have main\autoexec.cfg include configuration which should also apply to the expansions, rather than duplicate those settings in mainta\autoexec.cfg and maintt\autoexec.cfg? I know the expansions would read data files from the main directory but didn't know they would do any such thing for autoexec.cfg. That's not to say it's not possible, I just wasn't aware of it so perhaps it wasn't a feature.
I had separate autoexec.cfg in each expansions main folder it was like the game wasn't reading them, but the weird part was when I opened up their unamedsoldier.cfg it showed the changes. So I copied my entire autoexec into the unamedsoldier.cfg and my custom resolutions and settings where working.
Why would i need a autoexec.cfg file after all, i can just do keybinds using ingame console? So far yes you are right but what if you want to save some time doing a lot of binds one after the other, you could simply create or modify your autoexec.cfg file and all binds will be loaded at once during start up of the server instance or at game launch.
