APmonitor is a great environment & tool for experimental project development, and also very friendly to learn.
But nowadays, I'm wondering if there's a gap between APMonitor to be used in a real factory plant, as there's a need for docking with DCS and a bunch of Protection logic and protection boundaries of MVs to be considered.
Commercial APC packages usually have a module named"Online MPC Controller" which is used for running online and also can be switch off by operators when it doesn't work out well. Is there a similar module or function in APMonitor to achieve that?

Looking forward to more information about that. Thank you! :)

Eunice,

There are many online applications of Gekko that require this functionality. The option is REQCTRLMODE https://apmonitor.com/wiki/index.php/Main/OptionApmReqctrlmode
 Type: Integer, Input
 Default Value: 3
 Description: Requested control mode
              0=off
              1=simulate
              2=predict
              3=control
In Gekko, this is changed with: m.options.REQCTRLMODE=3  There are complete examples of developing an online controller here: https://apmonitor.com/do/index.php/Main/AdvancedTemperatureControl  The difference with this application and industrial control applications is that it doesn't use a Modbus or OPC connection (just a USB connection). However, the same software structure and options still apply.

Best regards,
