I was checking out the list of services using APML at
http://groups.google.com/group/apml-public/web/services-supporting-apml
and most of the links are dead. I see that domains owned by Chris Saad
are either dead or are now owned by someone else. As far as I know,
the only thing you really can do with the APML format now is export
RSS feeds from FeedDemon. But once you export them, there's nowhere
else to import them or analyze them.

It was a good idea. But I guess it didn't catch on and folks moved on
to other things. It would probably be good if Chris or someone else
cleaned up all the dead links and anything else that refers people
from one site to another to find out more about the format.

Hi Todd,

You are right that APML has certainly had a lul in activity on this
group but the usecases for the format seem to be growing every day.

Like any format, however, running code is the most effective way to
turn a format into a standard.

I personally have been working hard to get JS-Kit to the point where
APML makes sense for the platform. Once ready, this would be a big win
for the format since JS-Kit is so wildly distributed and used.

I think the format itself is very close to done and it only takes a
large-scale deployment to test the fidelity of the assumptions.

How is everyone else feeling about things - any suggestions/ideas for
getting things moving? Maybe a meetup while Paul Jones is in town (SF)
- which should be soon!

Actually, (despite the name), the new Emotion markup language
(W3C Working Draft 29 October 2009)
http://www.w3.org/TR/emotionml/
could do what APML does?

It has Categories, levels of Confidence, Sources etc....

Cheers
