3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Senior
Program Manager- Strategy,
the TAE shall provide conceptual, technical
and managerial advice and support for strengthening PI’s child-centered education programs/
projects and further, support internal and external networking at national,
regional and global forums to ensure dissemination and scaling up of good
practices and learning’s.
Key
Responsibilities:
(A) Technical and
Managerial
(1) Supporting Pl and its partners in facilitating
access to quality education (primary and elementary) for all children in Pl’s program areas. This requires
understanding of issues affecting access and reach of education (especially for
vulnerable children, girls in particular), quality education (capacities of
school faculty, teaching-learning processes, learning materials etc.),
engagement of key stakeholders (including children, teachers, community based
groups, school management committees etc.);
(2) Providing expertise for designing, monitoring, evaluation and follow-up of child-centered education interventions in a rights based approach, keeping in mind a holistic approach to programming in education;
(3) Leading and supporting (as applicable) the development of concept notes and grant proposals for donors, corporates and government departments on specific sub domains like violence, gender and protection issues in education;
(4) Contributing to the process of developing strategy, policy and position papers, in line with the latest government policies and programs and PI’s Country Strategic Plan (CSP);
(5) Working closely
with the Research & Evaluation Team in monitoring and evaluation, analysis
and review of programs and documenting lessons and experiences, to improve
program quality and impact.
(B) Institutional and
Staff Development
(1) Undertaking
measures to map capacities and build a plan to provide support to PI staff and partners, as required, for
enhancing the quality of programs;
(2) Undertaking regular program reviews and audits with other members of the Program Strategy and Policy Team;
(3) Promoting and
practicing mutual organizational learnings and sharing of information, case
studies and ideas, as well as experiences, on education.
(C)
Representation
(1) Representing PI on education to civil society,
networks, government bodies, research institutions, universities and
international organizations in India and in other PIan countries;
(2) Developing and enhancing PI’s involvement in education networks, to improve access to quality of education in India, especially for the most marginalized communities;
(3) Supporting PI’s advocacy efforts on access to
quality education in India, especially education of girls and on other education
campaigns, as required from time to time.
4.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND
COMPETENCIES:
Qualifications:
Applicants
must possess a Masters Degree in Education/ Sociology/ Social Sciences/
Development Studies and/ or any related field, from a reputed
institute.
Experience:
(1) At
least eight years of ‘full time’ experience in education-focused development
work (primary and secondary levels of education), preferably along with
experience of child rights based programming;
(2) Must have an understanding of the values, opportunities and limitations of key flagship programs/ schemes of Government of India (SSA, Right to Education Act, etc.) and the various entitlements for children, programs at scale or innovative programs of other development agencies, including multilateral agencies;
(3) Extensive understanding and experience of development issues affecting education and children in India, particularly with respect to hardest to reach children (girls, children with disability, street children, HIV infected and socially marginalized, in rural and urban contexts) is required;
(4) Experience of advancing continuation of secondary education, especially among girls, education in emergencies, inclusive education approaches, etc., is desirable;
(5)
Demonstrated strengths in networking, along with established linkages with
government departments, research institutions, NGOs, knowledge and policy
networks, youth networks, etc. in the field of
education.
Skills:
(1)
Ability to effectively communicate ideas;
(2) Excellent networking and negotiation skills;
(3) Strong coaching and mentoring abilities;
(4) Sensitivity to working in a culturally diverse organization and region;
(5) Excellent documentation skills, with fluency in writing, reading and speaking both English and Hindi;
(6) Proficiency in the use of computers and MS Office applications;
(7) Ability to work independently and take initiatives;
(8) Ability to perform multiple tasks and deliver consistently on deadlines.
(9) Ability and
willingness to undertake travel within India upto 30% of
time.

COMPENSATION OFFERED:
Gross annual remuneration
budgeted for the position is attractive. Offers shall be commensurate with the
qualifications, experience and salary history, of the selected
candidate.
