Using Office 365 from ⎕WI

I've got applications that talk to Excel using ⎕WI 'New' 'Excel.Application'. This works fine for locally-installed versions of Excel. But some users are upgrading to cloud-based Office 365, which doesn't seem to have any registered ActiveX interface that I can talk to. Has anyone figured out how to talk to Office 365 from ⎕WI?

Update:  I've done a clean install on a clean machine and there are no problems.  I'm currently trying to track down what's weird about the client machines where there are problems.
