Conversion of java code to smali code

Hello everyone,

I would like to ask how we can convert from java code to smali code in windows 10 without Android studio?

Is it necessary to convert to dex file and then only we can get the smali code?

I tried using this software https://forum.xda-developers.com/tools/programming/script-quickly-convert-java-to-smali-t3323470 but was not helpful for windows 10.

Any help will be highly appreciated.
