Many of you and your organizations participated in the initial training of the LGBTQ Justice track back in April. The intent was for that session to be followed up by a series of peer circles and capped off by a training this month focused on putting together public education campaign plans with the aid of seasoned campaign strategists. The attached flyer describing that plan is attached for your reference.
We decided to go a different direction mainly because many of you or your groups were involved in other tracks of the Wally Marks Leadership Institute. That coupled with the changing landscape of the marriage equality movement, which many though not all, of your groups are focused on gave us reason to rethink the plan.
I’m pleased to announce that we’ve revamped the track and integrated it better into the next cycle of the Wally Marks Leadership Institute for Change.
The first part begins on Saturday, November 20th from 10am to 4pm at Liberty Hill’s offices. It’s a hands-on training intended to help your organization clarify your systemic change goals and build or revisit your campaign plans to achieve those outcomes. This training will prove invaluable as you prepare your applications for the 2011 Fund for Change. Moreover, it is likely that we will have a special funding opportunity for our LGBTQ Justice grantees separate from the Fund for Change. This training will be useful for that too.
This session will be followed by a series of peer circles led by Richard Corral whom you will meet at the training of the 20th if you don’t know him already. The next cycle of the of the Institute begins in earnest in February or next year. My colleague Evelin Montes will be in touch about that in the near future. It will include details about how the LGBTQ Justice track will be incorporated more seamlessly into the Institute in 2011.
In the mean time, please reply to this email letting me know who from your organization will participate on the 20th. Ideally, at least two members of your group will be able to do so.
Cheers,
Vincent Jones
