Subject: My New Play... read... 6/23 Night...Greetings Family and Friends!
As you may know - I had a vision in late December of a scene from a new play. Over the last 6 months amidst moving, multiple work projects and a variety of personal life 'stuff'... I have managed to birth this draft of a new play while part of the Writing is Rewriting Class at the DHHWI at East West Players.
I apologize for the horrible notice...
but please know this ...
it's a reading of the new work... and after this point - I plan to continue revisions in conversation with not only artistic colleagues but the Ileto family as well.
Even if you can't make it tomorrow night - please take a second and send a thought out into the world for Joseph Ileto - the Postal Angel & Superhero who inspired me to write this piece. (For more info on Joseph see below)
I am thankful to all of you for your presence in my life and the inspiration you have given me. And of course, I am ever grateful to my wife Ellen and our family. I promise to be better about sending out word of my projects - and of course - on the next steps for this piece.
With much love and light, Alison

POSTAL AMERICANA
For the last five years Joanne has been sleep walking through her life. She daydreams flashbacks of her childhood hero, Joseph the Mail Man, and wakes in 2004, to the nightmare of losing her house and marriage. Forced to move back in with her Dad and reconcile the losses of her life, she seeks advice from the angel of Joseph Ileto. Is it coincidence, signs from the universe, or simply 5 years of unopened bills?

Postal Americana is inspired by slain Filipino American Postal Worker Joseph Ileto. Many years ago I met the Ileto family and have been humbled ever since. Several friends and colleagues have created a variety of artistic and anti-hate crime training pieces honoring Joseph and his family over the past decade - asPostal Americana begins its development, I send it out within that larger artistic and community dialogue of grief, celebration and commemoration. Special thanks to Kathay Feng.
