Proper mime type for GeoJSON?

We're building out some new geospatial functionality for our API, and adding an explicit GeoJSON output type.

However, we already use application/json for our JSON output content-type and for content negotiation, so what should we use for GeoJSON? GeoJSON itself specifies application/json

My gut tells me something like application/json+geojson or application/json+geo, but I can't find an precedent for that on the web.

Anybody else have any good ideas?

there was talk on the GeoJSON list to mint a profile[1] and SeanG posted one a while ago[2] but not sure on the status/use of it.

I'd ping the GeoJSON list for comments.
