Senate is "special" in the following ways:

1. Can filibuster
2. Approve treaties
3. Confirm Presidential appointments
4. Convicts Presidents who have been impeached by the House

House is "special" in the following ways:
1. Bigger, so they have a rules committee
2. Actually impeaches Presidents
3. All appropriations bills must begin in House

In addition to that, one should also consider the reasons why Senate
and House were created.

The Senate with equal representation for every state (2 Senators for
each one, no matter how many inhabitants) ensures the influence of
small states whose voice would not be heard in a single-chamber
system.

The House, in contrast, is composed of a number of members based on
proportional representation according to the last census. Therefore,
it is the more "democratic" chamber because every citizen's voice
counts equally when it comes to the number of votes per seat. It makes
sure that big states are represented in a fair way and was proposed by
the (populous) state of Virginia when the Constitution was written.
