Since M3dView::refresh() does not seem to do anything if Maya is being run in batch mode, how can I trigger/force a VP2.0 scene render without using the ogsRender command which unfortunately always reads back the rendered image and saves it to disk?

I need to do some custom OpenCL computations on the rendered image buffer and would also like to manage the readback to system memory myself (i.e. only after having buffered a number of images on the gpu).

The tool I'm working on was originally based off of the blast2Cmd devkit example and it works perfectly fine in interactive mode but since M3dView::active3dView() returns a non-functional 'default' instance in batch mode my inner rendering loop returns pretty much instantly as no rendering is actually triggered:

I'm rendering out a sequence and would like the background to be solid, bright white. I'm using physical camera exposure control, which I think is my problem because it renders grey. If I bump up the exposure, I can get a white background, but then the foreground objects are blown out. Is there a way I can force it to be white and still maintain all the control I like to have through my camera exposure?

In Render Setup: Arnold, Arnold Renderer tab, scroll down to Environment, Backgrund & Atmosphere, change Background (Backplate) from Scene Environment to Custom Color and choose your color. That should do. Do NOT use the Background Color of the Environment Settings (let it black).

Is there still no update from Dell on this issue? I have a Dell Precision 5540 with a Quadro T2000 that I use for CAD design and rendering. It seems completely random when it will actually use the Quadro and when it will just try in vain to render complex 3D assemblies with the integrated UHD graphics. I've done all of the recommended fixes, changing settings in Nvidia Control Panel to use the Quadro for all applications, and right clicking specific applications and choosing "run with graphics processor" and choosing the Quadro. None of it seems to have any effect at all. The computer just uses the UHD graphics 90% of the time.

I've even tried completely disabling the UHD graphics in Device Manager, and this works but of course I can't have any external displays while in this state because the Quadro doesn't actually have access to the video ports.

Dell, please just make a setting somewhere in Windows or BIOS that will allow users to actually make the computer use the dedicated graphics card we paid so much money for.

I own a 5540 with I7 and T1000. I use SolidWorks. And when I switch between integrated graphics or nVidia High perf (for global option and/or SwoliWorks application), I have allways the same perf. And they are too poor.

The problem my SW Resseller have found is that on the Direct X diag, we saw that the display card is the intel HD and the render card is the nVidia. And I think that why the graphics are not efficient.

I have same problem. There is no way to get the system to use the quadro t2000 graphics card, or at least no way to force it to use this graphics card. In my previous laptop, 7510, at least there was an option in the BIOS settings for this. For the 5540, there is none. As a result, I cannot even connect 2 external screens at full resolution - I get reduced resolution, poor quality displays, and the computer runs slow (even doing nothing graphic intensive, just looking at windows desktop). There is no excuse for this, this graphics card should more than adequately handle 2 external displays.

To be fair, I do see that the t2000 does engage and take on some of the graphics burden when running graphics-intensive apps, but that doesn't change the fact that I cannot connect 2 external monitors, or that the pc runs dog-slow when I just plug in two external monitors, which is just plain unacceptable.

Ideally, there would be a way in software to tell it to connect the monitors to the T2000 and disable the integrated graphics, or to force it to use the T2000 when needed, but also be able to revert to using the integrated graphics when you need better battery life and don't need heavy graphics processing. Failing this, a change to the BIOS to at least duplicate what was available on previous laptop workstations would give basic functionality and ability to force it to use the T2000 and disable integrated graphics - unfortunately with the downside of reduced battery life.

What I understand from my interview with the Dell support is the 5540 use an hybrid GPU : the Quadro GPU is used to render, but the link to the screen use the Intel GPU. So, it can be possible to switch the Intel GPU.

Have this problem, too, on my Precision 3541. It's so frustrating that every BIOS in every Dell Desktop has an option to use either the video card or the onboard video processor, but they still don't offer this option!
