GIS and Visitor Experience

Hello Everyone,
I am the GIS Intern with Minnetrista (Minnetrista.net). We have been
creating GIS maps of our campus for maintenance purposes but there are
vast numbers of other possibilities. As these maps are being finished
up we have hopes to incorporate them into the visitor experience
portion of the institution. Hence this post. I've been sent out to
find out how our fellow public gardens are using this technology for
their visitors if at all. We just want to see if this type of
application is successful, desired, or even possible. So how are you
and your organizations using GIS for the visitors? Do you have hand-
held devices, a kiosk, a web app, or something else?
