The APGG recently launched a new group site on LinkedIn for
professional networking and another on YouTube for online training
videos.
LinkedIn is a business-oriented social networking site that is mainly
used for professional networking. LinkedIn connects you to your
trusted contacts and helps you exchange knowledge, ideas, and
opportunities with a broader network of professionals. The APPG group
on LinkedIn is similar in function to our Google Group, but offers
additional features such as a news feed and job postings. The APGG
will continue to use both the Google Group and the LinkedIn group as
forums.
To join the APGG group on LinkedIn, visit the LinkedIn website at
www.linkedin.com and serach for the Alliance for Public Gardens GIS.
YouTube is a video sharing website on which users can upload, share,
and view videos. The APPG channel on YouTube provides visitors with
the opportunity to view online videos related to using GIS at
botanical gardens and zoos. The UC Davis Arboretum plans to post the
GIS training videos they create for their current IMLS grant on this
site.
