What I'm wondering is how sensitive this ecosystem is to trauma.
Scientists were surprised at how quickly the animals and wildlife were
able to recover after Mt. St. Helens erupted; will all of the
assistance provided to the gulf be enough to allow the ecosystem to do
the same? Or will all of the deeper issues show up in the years to
come as more damage than we anticipated? Will this accident follow
similar patterns to similar instances?

I'm glad BP is at least being subjected to punishments for their
carelessness!

This talks about the punishment bp is running into.
http://www.google.com/crisisresponse/oilspill/ This has a running
count of the gallons leaked.

Here's some information i found on the nature conservatory's
(stationed in Georgia)
website and some people's reactions to the spill. the article defines
their approach to
recover from the damage.

I wonder what happened to Kevin Costner's cleanup method!
