Hello Friends

Are we ( NGO'S, APEC members, .... ) only bothered about the environmnet.

What about the common public ?  I have some questions left out in my small brain.. they are ..
Do the Common public have interest to care about environment ?
Do the Common public are not aware of the consequences that we face in the future ?
Do the Common public have knowledge whats going around ?
Do the Common public needs some one to educate them ? If so who have to do that ?
Do the Media playing its role correctly ?
Do the Government is playing its role effectvely to control and take safety measures at this moment ?
Why only we ( NGO's,APEC members, ... ) are more concerned about society? Are we only living ? Wher the others are living ?

Are We ( NGO's, APEC members .. ) playing our role effectively ? If yes how are we measuring the change taking place ?
Is it in the number of sapling planted ?
Is it in the number of polythene covers saved by us ?
Is it in the number of people joining us ? If yes all of them are committied with dedication ?
Is it in the number of events we organize ?

The  above questions started raising in my mind after revisiting to one of the lake where we ( APEC, Google, SBI , Tree foundation, ITMD, Forum for a better hyderabad.... ) have conducted a lake cleaning program , sapling program, awarenss among the localities.Location of the lake is in Miyapur and the name of the lake is Gurunadham Cheruvu. When the first round of cleaning started a small bit of news was covered by one of the newspaper one day before. Taking the news ,people from secundrabad, dilsukhnagar have joined the initiative in the interest to support the lake. Also some kids joined joined with us. May be i am specifying in the last ,but this is more important : " The efforts done by Tree foundation are excellent ,special thanks to Arun's Team" . Now i request Arun and his team to keep us the progress you have made techically to restore the lake. Like old pictures , present pictures, analysis report before and after, feed back report of the localities, Also request you to find some pary who can renovate the lake on part of CSR from some IT or Non-IT companies or Shopping malls Like CMR, RS Brothers, Kalanekithan. Your efforts should not loose ,they should sustain forever.

Once in a month whenever i have time i take a visit to find the further progress or development of the lake on my own interest. Yesterday it was the time. When i went there i was disappointed with the present status.
1. Some of the sapling are in the last stage.
2. Some of the sapling lost their life.
3. As usual people started dumping the polythene and other garbage into the lake.
4. The bund constructed was made dirty. Not even some can walk on it.
5. People of the locality are least bothered to take care of the saplings or stop some one from throwing the garbage into the lake.

But the positive things are :
1. The water is almost to the FTL area. ( FTL = Full Tank Level)
2. The rest of the saplings which are survivied are givign little beauty to the bund of the lake .
3. The lake looks very beautiful in the evening atmosphere. If some NRI's or Corporates ( as mentioned above ) can take care of the lake in the name of development it is a good place for the public to enjoy in the evening. Initially we ( ITMD ) tought of doing it. But due to some reasons we have dropped the idea. I got the estimate from the GHMC, tough it seems to be little high.

Latest pictures of the lake are present at the link :  http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/-ci95IHYhkbR_fafXp-J7A?feat=directlink ( Take on : 19th December 2009 ) Lake and Trees talk in my pictures.

What i wanted to higlight is PUBLIC ( Generally ) wants some to come and clean their area or make their surronding clean ,but not respsonsible for sustaining it.  Now the same was repeated here. NGO's like us want's to clean a clean where we don't stay. May be choice of lake is choosen by one of us. But at one instance feel little bad.

But it will not drop me to put off my efforts. I can do my best to the society and environment. I Just wanted to put up the things how they are running on the back ground. If my mistake if anyone feels there is some wrong data in mentioning, wrong analysis in representation please correct me.

End of the story i wanted to blame the Electronic media giving no space for the importance of environment. They want to cover only the show which they can increase the PRP ratings of their channels.

Sir,
It is wonderful how unknown cheruvu has become topic among environmentalists today. Thanks to the efforts of Arun, Raghuveer, Madam and all involved in cleaning up the lake.
Perhaps all of us should form a team to visit various lakes, meet regularly and do act.
When the cleaning up of the lake was taken up, there was no one from the residents staying opposite the lake.  But slowly during the second time when tree plantation was taken up, some residents had come. Slowly we should act and it becomes a movement.

Hello Panasaram garu

wishing you a happy christmus and New Year 2010
It is really appreciated your efforts and thoughts for the environmental issue
Hope there are people who do good things but least bother for the sustainabilityand
continuous efforts for the environment protection. I particpated in first cleaning programme
of gurunadham cheruvu but it is individual effort and sacrifice for the cause . The same with the team must be encouraged and must be in continuous process of acitivity for ever.
For which all must come forward and do the necessary good things for the society
I  hope who are dedicated must come together do the need and see it must be in progress
and ahead of our local people duty to followup. Faraways enthusiasts could come for some times not for the everlasting days. It must be responsibility of neighbours and near by reasidents responsibility to protect their environment and commitment for their safety and healthy and peaceful life . It is role model for the next generation to survive with hazardous free sorroundings and safe ecofriendly atmosphere.
hope for the best and do the good for society at large hope to meet if time permits and occasion comes with goods regards and best wishes

Tis is a vrey great deed. so as you said we need to plan a press meet or door-to-door campain in the lake area. We have media friends in this group. I request all of them to come forward and do write to help the sustainability of the efforts made. After all, there are only few lakes left for us.

Can we form a small team that always focusses and suggests on the sustainability part of any activity done by members of APEC (media,Admin,NGO,Corporates,Institutions,Students).

Dear Enthusiastic Environmentalists

Glad to update you on the developments at Gurunadham Cheruvu. The Forestry wing of GHMC has taken up tank foreshore plantation in the lake bed area last week.  This area uptill now was used as an open defacation facility.  Around 60 saplings have been planted.
Request APEC members staying around Miyapur - JP nagar to visit the lake atleast on weekends and continue the community outreach activities so as to build up the institutional mechanism for sustainable lake management.  One key stakeholder group is the fisherman community which harvests fish from the lake and hence are keen on its well being. But we need to build a structure for formal management of the lake
