AndiRobinson I also want to use OWA, but the unread folder is a blocker for me. But this is the curse of working with Microsoft. They give you 80% of what you want and then never deliver the remaining 20% that makes the product perfect for your needs, forcing you to spend hours upon hours trying to find ways to make it work, only to either give up or find a third party tool to do it. And it is like this across the board, even when MS users are screaming for functionality.
I seriously need some help all my emails are going into the delete folder and being marked as read. I have went through all the rules and there is nothing that makes all my emails foward to delete. Somone please help me.

Am having same issue with email going straight to trash and marked as read. And when i move email into the inbox folder it goes back to the trash folder. Have you figured out how to fix your issues @JustAnAIBot
@LeonPavesic Nope - nothing has changed. Emails are still going into the deleted folder. In addition, when I open any of my emails they are a font size 40 even though it says it is 12 point.
What is the fix?
HiI started using the new Outlook preview today, however have promptly stopped as two key features (for me) are really clunkyThere is no longer a separate folder for unread mail, nor seemingly an easy way to configure one. the filter option is limited as unless I am missing it, I can't then sort the view easily once I have filtered my inboxSecondly, I am a keen user of follow up flags for a number of reasons. Again, visibility and sort-ability of these is really poor. I can filter to flagged messages, but I then want to be able to sort it to due date, and I don't want to have to do this every time I wish to see my "to action" listAm I missing something, or have these features been removed and streamlined? If they have, I feel this is a really poor decision, as it should be users choice on how to arrange/view their mailThanks in advance
I agree with you on the flagged emails. I use that religiously. I don't want to have to go to a separate page to see every email I've ever flagged, then have to filter every time I want to see emails I need to work on.
Hi all, I had the same issue but just found the solution. In the sidebar where you can see your calendar and the "To Do" option, click down on the "Tasks" option and you can switch to the flagged emails. I wish they would still allow us to view both at the same time but I'll take what I can get until they fix it. Hope this works for you. I attached a pic if it helps :)
A manual way to do this is to enter "isflagged:yes" or "isread:no" in the the search field. Be sure to select Inbox to the left of the search field (or any other folder, you wish to search) or you will also see flagged/unread messages in trash, drafts, etc. Maybe this can be automated - I tried to look at Quick steps, but couldn't see how to enter search queries there. I found it by trial and error - cannot find good documentation on this or other flags in the Outlook help. You can enter extra text to search the flagged or unread messages for. Flags can also be combined, but I don't have a good list of flags.
This is so annoying, I flag emails I need to work on (surely the point of the flag?) and then put them into folders. I would use the Follow Up folder to see them all in one place. now what? I have to go into each folder I have and filter to try and locate all my emails to action?
Concerning the unread email: In each Folder, you can filter the unread mail by clicking on the filter icon on the right top site and then select "unread" . It is a little bit hacky and definitely less convenient since you have to go through every mail folder and you don't have all unread mail at one place.
Hi all,Having just switched to the new Outlook it appears I have the same issues as others as a user that uses my Flagged emails as a to do list. I don't want to open Microsoft To Do each time I want to see my flagged emails either. I don't like that you can't sort flagged emails without impacting your entire imbox. Seen as the fix suggested above no longer works has anyone found any other options? Really need to be able to access my flagged emails quickly and easily.
Thanks for the advice Nico. You can recreate the search folder "flagged" and save it to your favorites, but there is not a sort by due date option within that folder. Without having a sort by due data option, the flagged folder is still significantly less useful for me than it was in "Old" Outlook. Maybe Microsoft can provide this option soon.
Looks like you have to re-create it. Easy to do. Scroll to the bottom of your folder list in outlook. There is a "Search Folders" there, right click on it and click "Create a new search folder". Choose a search folder of "Unread mail". It should show up right under the Search Folders. Then you can right click on the new folder and add it to favorites.
Yes the Unread Mail search folder is not available in New Outlook. Additionally, if you mark an email as read in your inbox and move it to a subfolder, it is converted to an unread email, so you have to mark it unread again in the subfolder!
According to your description, i understand that you are not satisfied about the current filter options in New Outlook preview. And based on my research, i got the same result as yours. I'm afraid the filter options in legacy Outlook are not all available in New Outlook preview.
Just checking in to see if above information was helpful. If you have any further updates on this issue, please feel free to post back. If you think my reply is helpful to you, please remember to mark it as an answer. Warm thanks.
I think I am little bit confused. This is a "brand spanking new build that we ask to test.
And when we state that one of the features that we are really missing is not there, wed been told to vote for it, as developer did not think it makes sense to keep it?
Us telling you that we are missing it is a vote.
I am receiving several hundreds emails a day, and they all file in different folders for organizational purposes. I have to have ability to just see unread emails, not try to re sort everything to make developer life easier.
Please put feature back - as it was already there.
Hi, @ChristyZhang-MSFT as per comment above, whilst your response answers the question, to be told as a user you cannot do something you used to be able to, seemingly with no good reason, is not particularly helpful, no
I am not seeing you have fully answered the question, or at least the answers provided are surely missing the actual question. Most answers deal with folders and I believe the question was regarding accounts. How to create a shortcut to unread messages in an account, not a specific folder? Since Outlook has done a lot to have Google accounts be added to Outlook and now include that with Yahoo, my Outlook has numerous accounts, with multiple folders in each account. How do we create a shortcut to all unread emails in each account?
Tip: The name of the filter button changes to Unread to indicate which filter is applied. When you want to remove the filter so that you can see all the messages in the current folder, simply click the
We have pushed all our users to use Outlook mobile apps on iOS and Android, however many are complaining that they have created rules on the Outlook desktop client to put emails in certain sub folders (i.e. all emails from my manager go into a sub folder) and not getting notifications. As the email is moved to the folder before it gets to the client, the mobile apps do not display a notification.
As a work around I've had to set up some Flows so that if email received from a certain email address, it displays a notification. The user can then open Outlook and go to the relevant folder. Its not pretty.
I'am surprised that this basic functionality is not in the app yet..I'am a developer and I know how this work, it's a shame that Microsoft implements their outlook application without thinking about having a notification for sub-folder new mails..
The best solution I found currently is to use MS-flow app, I succeeded to have notifications with a delay of 15 minutes as it sychronizes every 15 min for outlook account and I think every 5 min for 365 email accounts.
This is what I used when I had an iPhone and worked fine. Only thing is if you add/create additional subfolders, need to remember to come back and add them to the favorites as well. - _sub_folder_push_notifications_for_mail_in_ios12/
Hi, thanks for the potential solution. Bumping this thread up as I am astonished that people raised this issue as early as 2015 and it has yet to be looked into in 2020. Why bother using rules creation if you aren't going to be notified properly, you end up missing out on important messages. Bunch of established features are all wasted because of lacking in one supplementary feature which happens to be the most basic and vital one.
Creating folders is the best way to stay organized in Outlook. If you move certain items into their own designated folders, you save yourself the time of having to sift through hundreds of emails.
Rules allow you to keep your inbox nice and tidy. If you receive lots of emails from work, school, or certain subscriptions, rules will allow you to file those emails away into their own sub-folder, so you don't have to miss important emails that can get buried by spam.
Let's say for example, we would like to create a rule for a subscription service that is used for work or school. We want to file it away into it's own folder, so we will create a rule that says when a message arrives from "subscription service email", move the email into the Subscription folder.
