Hi RAC and the whole Council!
APECS was approached by the Chairs for the IPY 2012 Conference in Montreal to nominate representatives of APECS to their Steering Committee. As we are all young scientists and our careers tend to change quickly, APECS has agreed with the Canadian IPY Office to nominate 2 people: one as the actual representative and one as alternate. This will be a 2 year intensive time commitment.
We as RAC chairs were asked to nominate the representatives for APECS to the Program Committee.
If this is something that you would be highly interested in, you can apply by sending the following information to: l.ju...@noc.soton.ac.uk
By Monday the 8th of March, 10pm GMT latest.
1) Name, Institution, Country
2) field of study,
3) area of study (Arctic / Antarctic / Cryosphere / Global),
4) previous involvement in APECS,
5) previous involvement in being on a committee or organizing a conference,
6) reasons for wanting to be on the Committee,
7) times of absence (during the next two years)
8) suggestions on ideas of sessions / topics for the conference,
9) ideas of how to integrate early career researchers into the program
If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Best regards,
-Kim
RAC Chair
Hi all again,
Some information I forgot to include: In case you are interested to know a little bit more about the focus and work field of the Programme Committee for the IPY 2010 conference in Montreal. This Committee will be in charge of the science programme and decide on themes, sessions, if it will be open for anyone to propose sessions or decided by this committee, who should be conveners and co-conveners, if there will be any 'mandate' as to the role of early career researchers in these processes, etc.
Hope that helps a little.
Regards,
-Kim
