Hi all,

please find a first draft for our RAC meeting in Oslo attached; and all documents we have on the RAC duties. Please review these documents until the meeting latest.

Additionally, please understand this email as the start of the discussion for the Future RAC and its strategy after Oslo 2010.

Some key questions are:

- One of the strengths of the RAC is the ability to reach many people in many disciplines. How can we keep that going, and how do we improve on it?

- How can we improve the RAC structure in general?

- How can we involve more people?

- How can we better address the needs of the disciplines?

- How do we address issues such as faster DC turn-over and finding long-term PIs for projects initiated by the RAC (thus apply for funding!)?

- Should we keep the DCs, or should we simply have people be in charge of projects (i.e. the policy list-serve, VPS)?

Great work Kim and All -

To your key questions I wonder if you have thought about things other than structure (which can be important but not as fun for new people to discuss)...

- What should the RAC do?
- What should discipline groups do? and how?
- Are there core projects that can be focuses on and built upon?
- What kind of support does the RAC, DCs, and discipline groups need to do be effective and productive?

Or perhaps these are more questions for the open discussions and not the internal RAC meeting - but none-the-less I think these might be good items to start a discussion?

I wish you a very productive meeting!
jenny

Hi Daniela,

Your suggestions are great - thanks! I was just wondering as you changed the
DC Meeting Agenda (on the 9th of June) to become the RAC Meeting agenda
:)(on the 11th of June) - I will incorporate your suggestions into the RAC
meeting agenda then, ok?
You did intend to review the RAC Meeting, not the DC (Disciplines) Meeting,
right?

Best, -Kim

Hi Kim and all,

Thanks for drafting and commenting on an agenda for a RAC meeting in Oslo.
I think this document and your questions, Kim, are a great start.

I have made some suggestions and comments in the document attached. I have
also incorporated Jenny's and Kim's questions. I think, we really need to
encourage a discussion of those important matters and should not lose track
of them.

Cheers,

Daniela
