hi I have the exact same problem except now my Apple Music library just disappeared during the tech support call with apple after they asked me to try logging out and logging back in. here is the support email they will get back to me as well.
My Apple TV, as of last night, decided to stop playing movies I have already purchased. I spent an hour trying to trouble shoot the issue myself with no luck. Everything else seems to work as it should, Netflix streams perfectly, even the previews to any movie, including the ones I have purchased. When I select the play option of a puchased movie it will authenticate if needed, then go to the loading screen as if its going to start playing. A couple second will go by, anticipating the movies timeline will pop up and the movie to start playing, it will just kick me back out to the movies cover screen (screen with the movie I want to watch with its preview, play, and more.. buttons).
Somehow it feels the link between my account and the movies ive purchace is broken... apple obviously knows ive purchased them since they are in my purchased bin... I just cant watch them. Furstrating... Im not going to spend $10 bucks on a movie to see if the newly purchased movie will work either.
I have the same problem here with a client's AppleTVs (multiple - all updated firmware this past week). I did everything you did, including logging in with another iTunes account. Best I could get was loading one movie after a factory reset. No additonal movies will play with either account. Worked fine up until last week. Also switching between ethernet and wireless; no difference.
I am in the same boat. I have tried the exact same steps to try to resolve and nothing is working. Playing my movies is not the issue because i can watch them from my iMac through itunes streamed so the issue is something on the Apple TV. I would think that Apple would know about this at this point.
Everything network wise is identical to the way it was before the issue started. There have been no changes whatsoever and internet connectivity is not at issue. Everything else on the apple tv is functional, i can even run the connectivity test and have it pass, though it seems much slower to complete than it should.
I just went ahead and checked it again. I verified that indeed the location, regional, and time zone are all correct for my location. It prompted me to also log back into my itunes account. Before i did this check i attempted to play The Avengers, which did get past authentication and actually started playing. So i then tried The Little Mermaid, which did not work. I checked the settings above and then went back in and tried Blues Brothers, same problem. So while it may be working for others and seemed to work for at least one of my movies, it is not working for the majority. Blues Brothers and Lord of the Rings are both SD movies and Little Mermaid is HD. It doesn't seem to matter.
I happened to check my Apple TV today after work and all seems to be well now. Magically the issue has been fixed. My guess is that this problem was on apples side, most likely the authentification server...
I live in Australia and my Apple TV is having the same issue. I have done everything "holden21" has suggested too and had no luck. My movies have been downloaded or copied from DVD from and added to iTunes and has played flawlessly until recently.
I know I can watch Apple TV content on most browsers with any android tablet, but where to find my purchased movies? all I get when I sign in is Apple TV content, my bought movies are no where to be found - some help would be appreciated - cheers!
I want to screen record some video of a movie that I bought on iTunes as I want to do an in-depth analysis of said movie for my youtube channel, but I cannot find anyway to record the screen whilst the movie is playing and I only want to cut the movie up so that I can upload it under fair use. Can anyone help me record or cut iTunes movies so I can have both audio and visuals? If you can only manage visuals it is fine. But if there is no other way can you please tell me a way to get the footage from somewhere else?
I have also looked at the app now in more detail and I believe the help is correct. All it lets you do is watch Apple+, there is no way to access iTunes purchases. As the Amazon app has no such limitation I bought the movie there. I hope apple will fix this in future, but at least I was able to find a solution.
I did check that. I think what's going on is that Movies Anywhere does not have access to some movies and that's where the problem is. Though doesn't explain why it wouldn't access it directly from VUDU though. I an fairly certain that I had been able to play John Wick for example this way and now I can't.
The new year is just around the corner, but you've still got a few more days to kill with the whole family home, which means you still need to lean on the best new movies to stream on Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, Max (HBO), and other services. The last week of the year is a little slow regarding new movies, but there's plenty to catch up on from this list.
This week, Hulu gets scarier, Paramount+ gets one of 2023's most underrated movies, and Peacock debuts one of the frontrunners for next year's Oscars, The Holdovers. It's not a lot, but it will keep you occupied as 2023 turns into 2024.
We also have guides to the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, the best movies on Amazon Prime Video, and the best movies on HBO.
With films from up-and-comers like Minhal Baig, arthouse favorites like Sofia Coppola and Werner Herzog, some A-list music docs and one of the best animated movies of the 2020s, Apple TV+ is actually making the case that it belongs in the conversation alongside the more established services. As long as it keeps adding good movies to its roster, that is. It recently snagged a few critical darlings like CODA and Wolfwalkers.

It's more of an animated short than a movie, but considering the subject matter (and the fact Apple TV Plus doesn't have that many movies) we're adding it. Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth is gorgeous, heart-warming and perfect for families with young kids.
Starring Tom Hanks as a commander in the US Navy, Greyhound was well-received upon its release and -- unlike most modern movies -- comes in lean with a 90-minute run-time. Tense, well-acted and produced, and earning an Oscar nom for its sound, Greyhound is perhaps one of the best movies available on Apple TV Plus.
A dazzling animated movie by the team behind Song of the Sea, this is the third installment of Tomm Moore's loosely connected "Irish Folklore Trilogy." It's probably one of the best animated movies of 2020, richly deserving an Oscar nomination up against the giants of Disney and Pixar. Completely mesmerizing.

After a blazing November, Apple TV+ was pretty quiet in December when it came to worthwhile new releases, relying instead on the second halves of The Buccaneers, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, and Slow Horses to keep subscribers entertained. What that means is that we don't have any new entries on our list of the best shows and movies to watch on Apple TV+ as we enter 2024, but that will change in January with the releases of the British crime drama Criminal Record (Jan. 10) and the World War II fighter pilot series Masters of the Air (Jan. 26).
Cooper Raiff is having his Hollywood moment. The young writer, director, and star of Cha Cha Real Smooth saw his film take home the Sundance Audience Prize earlier this year, leading Apple to gobble it up (Apple did the same with CODA, which went on to win Best Picture). Raiff plays 22-year-old Andrew, whose charm earns him a job as a party starter at bat and bar mitzvahs, which leads him to fall for an engaged mother (Dakota Johnson) of an autistic child. Post-college confusion ensues as Andrew struggles to find his place in the world, making CCRS a coming-of-age story with laughs and tears. It won't win Best Picture, but it's one of the easiest movies to watch this year. -Tim Surette [Trailer]
While the streamer isn't quite as loaded with content as some of its rivals, the best Apple TV Plus movies boast big budgets, A-list stars and a winner of the Academy Award for Best Picture among their ranks.
