elasticity problem with spring constraint

Hi,

I am trying to create a string that you can bend around via drag and
drop. I do that by connecting a number of RectangleParticles with the
SpringConstraints. However, the more RectangleParticles I add, the
more elastic becomes the string as a whole even though I set stiffness
to 1.

Is there any possibility to turn that off? Or should I try a different
approach altogether to create a bendy string?

Help would be pretty much appreciated.
