Folks,

I'm building the kernel 3.10 on testing branch from https://github.com/linux-wmt/linux-vtwm/ and followed the instructions from https://github.com/linux-wmt/linux-vtwm/wiki/Build-the-source using wm8750-apc8750.dtb.

I've replaced the uzImage.bin and modules of an Apricot-R5-Mate image and copied scriptcmd-MMC to the fat partition as scriptcmd.

The kernel is not booting, u-boot loads uzImage.bin from mmc but not happens on console and neither on VGA display.

The default Apricot-R5-Mate-USB.img boots ok.

Any hints?

Regards,

Hi,

First of all, you said using scriptcmd-MMC in order to boot on USB Media. This is not good. You have to use an USB Scriptcmd.

Maybe you have an incorrect command in your scriptcmd.

Tell us exactly what you have in your scriptcmd file.

Hi,

You can find my kernel .config in a running Apricot R5 image at : /proc/config.gz

What you show me seems good. Just one thing I remember : did you correct the mistake in the Github wiki, at this line :

cat arch/arm/boot/zImage arch/arm/boot/wm8850-w70v2.dtb > arch/arm/boot/zImage_w_dtb

The generated dtb is not in arch/arm/boot/ but in arch/arm/dts (or arch/arm/boot/dts/ , I don't remember)

By the way, Mr prisk, if you are reading this, your wiki is wrong :-)

Tell us if this make the trick.

Do not hesitate to post on the google-group, I guess that you are not the only one who is trying this.

Panda,

Please, find attached my kernel config and uzImage.bin
Here is the commands that i'm issuing on u-boot console:
mmcinit 0
fatload mmc 0:1 0 uzImage.bin
setenv bootargs mem=512M root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 console=tty1 console=ttyWMT0,115200n8 rootwait rw
bootm 0

And here is the console output:

Gcc: arm-linux-gnueabi-gcc (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.7.2-1ubuntu1) 4.7.2
Kernel repo:
* bdbcfd0 (HEAD, origin/testing, origin/HEAD, testing) arm: vt8500: Fix gpio mux setup in vt8500_init()

I generated the uzImage.bin with wm8750-apc8750.dtb file following the instructions at: https://github.com/linux-wmt/linux-vtwm/wiki/Build-the-source

Do you have a known working kernel config?

Regards,

I'm using the scriptcmd to boot from MMC.
I just replaced the uzImage.bin on MMC and the system didn't booted.

Panda,

I generated the uzImage.bin with the right dtb file path, so this is not the problem root cause.

I used the /proc/config.gz from Apricot-R5 as .confg and recompiled the kernel image. This makes the kernel boots ok.

So,
If I do "make allnoconfig" and select the configs according to the github wiki, the kernel won't boot.
I believe that there is another must have option on kernel config.

Abraços,
