to .htaccess

Hello All
I am having a problem with .htaccess file. What happens when i type
domainname.com/.htaccess it displays its contents of .htaccess file.

RewriteEngine on

# -FrontPage-

IndexIgnore .htaccess */.??* *~ *# */HEADER* */README* */_vti*

<Limit GET POST>
order deny,allow
deny from all
allow from all
</Limit>
<Limit PUT DELETE>
order deny,allow
deny from all
</Limit>
i am using :-Server version: Apache/2.2.11 (Unix)
Cpanel::Easy::Apache v3.2.0
