Hi Paul,

Server Version: Apache/2.4.53 (OS/2) OpenSSL/1.1.1o
Server MPM: mpmt_os2
Server Built: May 11 2022 13:27:04

apache has the issue that do not erase the .PID
and sometimes restarting it face issues (and don't restart)

this situation is becoming a problem since sometimes i've to clear the \apache\logs dir from a lot of
.pid.something files and restart apache manually, since it refuse to start

e.g.

FWIW: when i was running the OS/2 Apache web server(s) and had this happen, i
switched to using a script to start apache... one of the first things that
script did was to look for and delete any leftover pid files...

Hi Massimo,
What is killing httpd and restarting the new instance? Your fault daemon?
If so, you probably need to delay the restart until the httpd instance you
killed is completely gone from the system and you need to allow the system
some time to close the pid file.
