Main Idea:" University of Colorado has enforced a sensible policy banning guns from its campuses. The ban worked well until March, when the State Supreme Court agreed with a student’s complaint that it violated a state law allowing citizens with “concealed-carry” permits to carry guns in public places.

Main Idea in my own words: Under the State Supreme Court, students at the University of Colorado have the right to carry guns, concealed, in public areas.

Response: Although I agree with the editorials view points to a moderate extent, I cannot accept the right to carry a gun, concealed, in public ares, especially in schools. One might argue that guns insure safety within in a school. Guns help students take action and defend themselves against any harm. Guns may also help students feel more secure. The author supports the students' perspective by explaining what happened in Aurora, Colorado, just a month ago: a graduate from the University of Colorado, carried an arsenal of guns into a movie theatre, where he killed 12 and wounded 58.  On the other hand, one might argue that guns only establishes a dangerous environment, causing anxiety and unrest. The possession of guns makes a safe place more vulnerable to danger. Although i can understand the perspective of the students of the University of Colorado, I believe it would be safer and better if the State Supreme Court outlawed "concealed-carry."

Response:

I think that University of Colorado definitely enforced the ban for a reason; however I don’t think that they should forget about the rights of citizens. I think that the citizen does have a point, if there is a law allowing people to carry guns with the appropriate permits, then yes, this law should be acknowledged by the University of Colorado. Despite the fact of the recent shooting, there has been nothing done yet to abolish the right to carry guns in public places. I think that policy the University of Colorado has regarding guns should be disregarded, because technically the student is right, it is legal for him to carry a gun. It’s not like the University of Colorado is its own state. Therefore I think it’s only fair for the student be allowed to have his gun on campus, of course with the proper permits.
