Why Should Olympians’ Hard work be Penalized?

Main Idea: Taxing our Olympians is a shame whenever they are the ones bringing our country together as one and bringing pride to our nation. “Let’s not put a tax on being the best…”
How is it fair to tax our most hard working citizens, our Olympians, for simply winning a Gold? They work intensely for months, put in long days, and never stop trying to the reach the top, like any working resident of the US. But the only difference is that they are athletes. Personally, I don’t think success should be punished by taxing them for winning. Ideally, these athletes don’t “need” a tax break, but the basic idea of it is that the government is penalizing these Olympians for succeeding. The Olympics are in opportunity to take pride in our great nation, and admire our achievement. The Games pull us all together as one, and that is something quite special. In my eyes, that is not fair to tax these people who represent the USA in such a positive manner. I agree whole-heartedly with what Mary Bono is saying in this article. At the end of Bono’s article, she says “let's not put a tax on being the best in the world.” After all, one should not be punished to bring our nation home a Gold.
