Main  Idea: “Pennsylvania's voter ID law will preserve the integrity of every vote by providing a reliable way to verify each voter's identity. Claims that our law makes it difficult for people to get IDs, which are free for voting, or will prevent anyone from voting, are simply wrong.”

Main Idea (MINE): Pennsylvania recently passed a new law that requires ID to be shown to be permitted to vote in this upcoming election helps prevent fraud, not stop voters from voting.

The idea of this law, to stop fraud in the voting system, is beautiful. One simply has to show a government approved ID to be allowed to vote. This stops illegal voting that could potentially really effect a close election. Every vote counts. I believe that voting is one of the most important rights as an American and to ensure that only legal votes are casted is something I strongly believe in. Some argue that this law makes it a hassle and a challenge for allowed-voters to get an approved ID, but in reality, that is false. The Department of State is helping voters get the correct documents needed and are supplying free voter ID cards. In this article, Aichele states how one can use something as simple as a US passport for their ID method. I firmly agree with this law. It is a comforting feeling to know that only legal voters will be voting on an issue as big as whom our next president will be. Aichele really summarizes the law to its basic essence and quite brilliantly when she says “Our voter ID law is to prevent fraud, not voting.”
