Hi All -

I am really struggling with finding a story about St. Patrick that isn't wierd and dark.  Last time I taught 2nd grade I just skipped the story altogether but was hoping to come up with a story that would work for him.  Any suggestions?  I may let it go, but if anyone has something good to share I'm open to it.

Thanks!
Giulie

“....We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”   ~Marianne Williamson

A simple one you can adapt is Tomie De Paola's illustrated children's book about Saint Patrick called Patrick, Patron Saint of Ireland. I have another book that is a chapter book I found at a used bookstore that is also good for future reference (too late for you to get it this time around I know) - Tales of Saint Patrick by Eileen Dunlop. This book is great for descriptive images.

You might also look at Eugene Schwartz's play The Fire on Tara for a way to bring the story.

Hope that helps (from someone who is just trying to put the story together myself as we speak),

Lisa
