In association with All Hallows College (Dublin City University) I have developed as part of the BA Professional and Personal Development a stream which focuses on community development and learning.
I am now putting the delivery team together. The programme comprises the following learning elements:

Principles and Practice of Community Development
CD2: Resource Management for Community Development
CD3: Social Science Approaches to Community Development
CD4: Community Learning and Development
CD5: Preparing to Work with Community Groups
CD6: Adult Learning in Community Development
CD7: Capacity Building in Community Development
CD8: Working with Young People in Community Development
CD9: Promoting Health in the Community
Capstone or Concluding Sequence
CC1: Research 5 ECTS
CC4: Workplace Practice in Community Development 10 ECTS
CC10:Advanced Project 10 ECTS.
The aim of the Focus Strand is to increase the understanding, practical knowledge and skills of students in the field of Community Development and Learning. The Capstone Sequence of the BA provides an opportunity for practical experience and mentoring, as well as guided research and writing.
The Programme Objectives of the Focus Strand are:
· Can recognise, describe and discuss selected concepts and theories pertaining to the field of Community Development.
· Can retain, review and report on some detailed cultural and social scientific frameworks of data and information relating to knowledge of Community Development and Learning.
· Possesses judgement for some planning, design and management functions in Community Development work.
· Ability to communicate, contribute and collaborate with others in work and community settings for Community Development.
· Ability to initiate learning independently, plan and implement systematic
discovery in relation to Community Development and learning.
