Subscribing towards the Employer Resource Bureau

The Board of CSEF has been examining how to make the CSEF financially self sustaining.  As a first step we are proposing to charge a subscription for use of our web based Employer Resource Bureau (ERB).  Our proposal is that parts of the site should be restricted to those who pay an annual subscription of Euro 50.   The restricted sections would be the templates, updates and briefings.  Our aim is to raise enough money from subscriptions to cover the costs of running the ERB, including hosting costs and the services of Edward Power who set up and updates the site and produces the ERB Monitor.

We will need to redesign the site to enable people to subscribe and pay on line and to highlight the benefits of subscription.  The cost for this work, including an annual hosting fee, is Euro 3,000.  We are asking our members to subscribe Euro 50 each now to cover the costs of the redesign which will then enable us to attract a wide body of paying subscribers.

This service has been free for almost three years. The value of the site is demonstrated by the number of visitors which has held at between 4-5000 visits a month.  We are aware that employers from all sectors use the site.

We appreciate that this is a tough time for all but we hope that your organisation will be able to subscribe Euro 50 for use of the ERB.    This service is more urgently needed now than ever before and for it to continue it needs to be self financing. Cheques should be made payable to the Community Sector Employers’ Forum and sent to the address below. If you have any queries, please get in touch.

On a different front we have just received a very useful barrister’s opinion on the relationship between funders and community sector employers –the ‘shadow employer’ role.  We will be sharing this with you in the near future.

Best wishes

Jean
