Why do Rudra Pooja
- The world is a play of energy, negative and positive. When we pray to
Shiva – the Lord of transformation; the entire negative energy around
us in form of disease, depression, and unhappiness gets transformed into
peace, prosperity and joy. Peace around us, in the mind, body and soul.
Rudrabhishekam is believed to be a very good Homam performed with
powerful mantras and it fulfills all the wishes of the person who gets
it performed. This Homam bestows prosperity, fulfillment of all desires,
it removes negativity, cut off the negative karma and give all round
happiness in life.
The Sri Rudram identifies 346 desires of human beings to be fulfilled to
have a peaceful daily life and invokes Lord Rudra to fulfill all of
them.
Whether you want peace or
prosperity, progeny or progress in profession, health or wealth the
Rudrabhishekam Pooja is the ideal one. It will be done in your name and
with your sankalpa, i.e., the specific purpose for which you are getting
the pooja performed.
The Sri Rudram occurs in Krishna Yajur Veda in the Samhitha . This
mellifluous prayer to Rudra has two parts-the Namakam (verses ending
with Nama) and the Chamakam (Verses ending with Cha May).
While Namakam
is a prayer to Rudra to forget about his avenging fierce, fearful and
horrendous form and turn himself into a peaceful form and do good to us,
Chamakam on the other hand lists out the blessings to be got from a
prayer to Rudra and prays Him to regulate and bless our life for a
moment forgetting his anger.
How is the Pooja Performed -
This pooja is performed with a crystal “linga”. Each ancient mantra
that is chanted gets absorbed in specific materials like curd, milk,
ghee, honey etc. This is then offered to Shiva with reverence, love and
gratitude. Specially trained Pandits and Veda students from our ashram
in Bangalore perform this special pooja. The chanting of the mantras is
so pure and meditative that it takes us to a different plane. There are Several meanings to the word Rudra
