Job Description:
Unix Administrator capable of designing, recommending, planning, and
implementing Unix solutions for new business projects. Must have excellent
communication skills and be able to collaborate and build relationships with
project teams. Ability to install and support HP-UX and SUN Solaris servers
in a production, development, test, and QA environment. Assist developers,
programmers, database administrators, and other users in resolving Unix
issues.
Provide 24x7 on call support once a quarter, supporting the entire Unix
production environment. Contribute to disaster recovery planning and test
exercises.
Job Qualifications:
a.. Required 5+ years experience administrating HP-UX, Sun Solaris, IBM
AIX, or other flavors of Unix.
b.. Familiar with HP Omniback, Veritas Netbackup, DLT tape drives, STK
libraries, and equivalent backup solutions.
c.. Able to use performance tools (sar, Glance, Perfview, Virtual Adrian)
and diagnostic tools (STM, Q4) to troubleshoot system problems.
d.. Familiar with HP, SUN, EMC, or other enterprise disk technologies.
e.. Knowledge of user administration, security procedures, and shell
scripting.
f.. Preferred 5+ years supporting a large corporate Unix server
environment.
g.. Experience with kernel internals, device drivers, and memory
management.
h.. Administration and tuning of EMC Symmetrix storage solutions.
i.. Ability to design, implement, and support SAN technologies.
j.. Capable of designing, implementing, and supporting high availability
solutions with HP ServiceGuard and OPS clusters.
Other Experience:
Supporting Intel based server and desktop environments to include Windows
(NT, 2000, XP) and Novell (4.x and 5.x) desired but not required for
candidate to be considered.
