Overall Experience:
3 - 5 years experience in a CM environment using ClearCase as CM tool. The
experience must include open system ClearCase architecture and
cross-platform (NT-UNIX).
Technical skills:
Candidate must have basic knowledge in the following areas -
* Understand NFS file sharing mechanism between UNIX servers.
* Understand NFS file sharing mechanism between UNIX and NT
servers/workstations using NF maestro and Samba packages.
* Experience in using ClearQuest as defect tracking tool.
* Understand testing connectivity between NT and UNIX using NFS Maestro.
* Understand standard CM industry practices.
* Understand perl scripting language.
* Understand the use of clearmake.
* Understand Korn or C shell in UNIX.
Candidates must have advanced knowledge in the following areas -
* Use of ClearCase Home Base in NT environment. This includes knowledge on
region synchronization, clearcase doctor, user preferences, mounting /
unmounting of vobs, start and end view, edit view properties, various
activities on versions and elements, branch and merge activity.
* Use of ClearCase in UNIX environment. This includes mounting / unmounting
of vobs, start and end view, edit view properties, various activities on
versions and elements, branch and merge activity.
* Understand config_spec rules for dynamic and snapshot views.
* Understand all meta data types, creating and manipulating meta data
types - branch, label, attribute and hyperlink.
* Understand automated build concept and code compilation/linking using
common compilers - c, C++, java etc.
* Understand commonly used UNIX commands and their options (ex. ls, chdir,
chmod, find, finger, grep, id, groups, cp, cpio, tar etc.)
* Experience in writing ClearCase triggers using Perl.
* Experience in resolving issues with views, ClearCase elements and vob
usage.
Non-technical Skills:
* Good communication skills - personal, e-mail, meetings etc.
* Good support skills.
* Patience and eagerness to provide support.
