Position Summary: Provide tech expertise for integrated sys apps in the Production Support environ. Develop & implement small to moderate tech business solutions. Interact w/ customers in order to analyze, ID, & implement solutions to maintenance problem tickets. Interact w/affected applications to ensure appropriateness of approach & ID & document outstanding issues. Develop accurate level of effort for small projects. Identify & implement performance enhancements. Provide tech & professional guidance to other SE's. Demo knowledge of industry.
Knowledge/Skills:
Required:
1. BA/BS in computer related field or equivalent exp.
2. 3 yrs in object-oriented Client/Server Development.
3. 3+ yrs exp. in Smalltalk Visual Works/Envy exp.
4. Versant and/or Gemstone experience a plus.
5. Progressive analytical experience to recommend and implement technical business solutions.
Preferred:
6. Demonstrate excellent organization and time management skills.
7.Strong oral, written, and presentation skills.

10.Ability to interface w/ all levels of management and int/ext customers.

Responsibilities:
At various points throughout the course of a Software Engineer's job, they will be expected to perform the following duties: Analyze, identify and rectify discrepancies with existing code in response to user identified errors. Implement and thoroughly test software components in adherence to detailed design specifications. Participate in comprehensive system test of all scheduled software releases. Interpret user requirements at a basic level and translate them into simple software designs. In addition, a Software Engineer will be expected to meet with user representatives and define requirements for mid to large scale pieces of functionality and translate those requirements into an effective system design. Plan and manage the implementation of completed designs which may involve supervising the work of one or more analysts.
Desired Requirements:
At least 2 year Powerbuilder 6.0 development experience. Capable of reading and understanding relational data models and applying that understanding to relevant business processes. Capable of understanding and adhering to established design methodologies and programming standards. Able to identify discrepancies with existing designs and recommend solutions that meet defined requirements. Ability to focus on the detailed aspects of each task and accept complete responsibility for the overall quality of all deliverables. Possesses effective unit testing skills including the ability to define appropriate inputs and expected outputs. Capable of translating system requirements for small scale implementations into efficient designs. Possesses an intermediate level of proficiency with relevant toolset. Capable of supervising and managing the work of others. Adept at planning and organizing project tasks in accordance with scheduled deadlines. Capable of defining system requirements for mid to large scale pieces of functionality and translating those requirements into an effective, well-documented design. Proactively identify and raise potential issues outside the scope of the current task. Effectively communicate thoughts and ideas within group discussions including meetings with representatives from other departments. Capable of leveraging knowledge and mentoring others within the group. Possesses an advanced level of proficiency with relevant toolset.
