Job Summary:
Provides technical and administrative support for enterprise network utilizing Cisco routers and switches. Supports business initiatives by providing network design, implementation and support. Maintains advanced knowledge of existing hardware and software in use to maximize network performance. Maintains and provides written network documentation on periodic intervals.
Job Duties:
- Supports enterprise network and third party vendor connections with technical expertise in Cisco switching/routing and troubleshooting LAYER 1, 2 & 3 problems.
- Supports existing infrastructure and assist in design/deployment of network solutions.
- Provides documentation and update drawings on a timely basis.
- Suggests enhancements to current standards.
- Works as team member, proactively troubleshooting problems.
- Will be required to work off-shift and weekend rotation.
Qualification and Skills:
- Five or more years of related network experience.
- Troubleshooting - Operating Systems, Hardware, Firmware/Software, Wide-Area, Metro and Local Area Networks, Internet, Cisco switch/router configuration, TCP/IP.
- ROUTING- RIP, EIGRP, BGP a plus.
- LAN- Ethernet, fiber and copper wiring standards, 802.1d spanning-tree, EtherChannel, VTP, 802.1q, ISL.
- WAN- 56k, ISDN, T1, T3, Frame Relay, ATM, PPP, HDLC, Quality of Service.
- Network Analyzers - OSI model, decode packets, understand and troubleshoot production problems.
- Network Management, SNMP, Unix/NT scripting, Firewall/Security experience, Wireless LAN/MAN technologies.
- Demonstrated advanced troubleshooting/problem determination a must.
- Well versed in Visio.
- 4 year college degree or equivalent experience.
