Role:
To lead a best practice quality assurance organization with responsibility
for the quality assurance of: a) products developed by Product Development
and b) customizations and configuration changes made by Professional
Services
Currently the QA department is embedded with the programming department and
we want a DIRECTOR of QA who will take the QA department out of programming
and establish it as its own separate entity.this person will coach, mentor
and train the staff in a mission critical environment and will also ensure
the integrity of the software.the Company is setting up an ASP software
environment.this is a somewhat pressurized environment so the right person
must be prepared for it.
Key Responsibility Areas:
a.. Ensure that products developed by Product Development have minimum
defects prior to release to Professional Services and ensure that
customizations and configuration changes made by Professional Services have
minimum defects prior to release to the customer
b.. Assess processes against best practices and make continual improvements
to ensure we are developing the highest quality products and delivering them
to our customers
c.. Build & develop qualified and talented teams of resources to address
product quality.
Typical Activities:
a.. Ensure that Product Development and Professional Services follow quality
assurance processes
b.. Provides ongoing assessment and feedback to Product Development and
Professional Services of resource requirements and improvements so that high
quality products are developed and delivered to customers
c.. Serves as a key contributing member of the operations management team
d.. Provides leadership to Product Development QA teams and Professional
Services QA teams to ensure quality on each software development
e.. Anticipates issues and risks and builds contingency plans to ensure
quality standards are consistently met
f.. Empowered to give the final signoff on QA
g.. Assists in QA resources allocation based on skill sets and priorities
h.. Skill assessment and development, and appropriate performance management
and career development
i.. Recruits high quality QA personnel as appropriate
j.. Resource Planning, resource allocation, utilization management
Requirements:
a.. 10+ years of Software Quality Assurance Experience including both
product and project quality assurance
b.. Strong understanding of the testing requirements of both product and
project quality assurance
c.. Proven record of building a SQA function in a mission critical
environment
d.. Strong Project & People Management skills
e.. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
f.. Ability to conduct risk analysis and effectively prioritize and escalate
g.. In-depth understanding of Software Development Life cycle models
h.. Strong business consulting and conflict management skills
i.. Experience with SQA tools and their application in a package environment
j.. Sound understanding of retail environment (POS experience a strong
asset)
Knowledge of Quality Management initiatives such as TQM, Six Sigma, ISO,
etc.
