Description: The Senior Capacity Planner position is designed to provide the
organization with an expert level of technical expertise as it applies
to Capacity Planning, Performance Monitoring and Stress Testing of
Server Systems and Applications in a distributed, heterogeneous
enterprise (30,000+ server)computing environment and a 1/2 Petabyte of
storage .
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7+ years in a similar role, extensive knowledge in the area of operating systems (UNIXand MS), hardware configurations, networking, and performance and
monitoring methodologies. The individual will create and maintain a reporting process to generate and report on Capacity and Trending statistics as they relate to daily product activity, and create and maintain a service level reporting process that maps actual product performance against contracted customer requirements.
Responsibilities include working with R&D, Applications and Sales areas to determine
future workload, generation and publication of periodic reports and planning documents, and support/development of fellow team members. As Senior member in this function, will be building this team and
presenting reports to CTO.
Required Skills:
10+ yrs. experience in enterprise scale distributed networked
environment OR client/server with emphasis on Capacity Planning. The incumbent will have strong skills in preparing and presenting resource requirements, evaluations - including input on final selection of CAPACITY PLANNING software (OpNeT or TeamQuest), and Cost/benefit
studies for CPU, Server and DASD devices. Hardware exp. w/SUN, HP, IBM, EMC and Hitachi.
Software exp. w/UNIX, NT, HPOpenview, OpNet or TeamQuest.
Desired Skills:
UNIX/NT, HPOpenview, OpNet, TeamQuest
Non-Tech Skills:
Team Leader, Superior Written / Verbal Skills
