Description: Join this established, highly reputable, and rapidly growing global pharmaceutical company in their Parsippany, NJ metro offices as a Unix System Administrator in a mixed HPUX / Sun Solaris shop that is primarily HP. We sat down with the hiring manager so we were able to learn a great deal about this position, the environment, and the type of person who would excel on his team. Salary will range from $70k to $75k, includes bonus, very attractive benefits (including 100% tuition reimbursement), and 3 weeks vacation. Position: HP-UX System Administrator - full time
Company: An established and fast-growing global pharmaceutical with a strong reputation.
Location: Northern New Jersey in the Parsippany-metro area, which is very accessible from all of Central NJ and as far east as Hoboken.
Relocation Assistance: Our client will not provide relocation assistance. They will only consider local candidates at this time.
Compensation: Compensation will vary depending on the quality and depth of the hired candidate’s experience, and can range from $70k to $75k, plus bonus, plus 3 weeks vacation, 100% tuition reimbursement, and other attractive benefits.
Work Authorization Status: Our client will only consider candidates with their EAD, Permanent Residents, or US Citizens.

3. HP-UX and Sun Solaris: This company is primarily an HP shop, but they do have a significant amount of Solaris boxes, so you’ll get a chance to work on both.
4. Leading Edge: This shop uses the latest version of HP-UX, OpenView, Tivoli, BMC, etc.
5. Hiring Manager: The hiring manager is experienced and very personable.
Responsibilities: Challenges, Expectations and Deliverables for this position:
1. Work with a staff of 3 to manage and support a mix of approximately 25 HP-UX (heavy on HP) and Solaris servers that are supporting ERP, CRM, databases, etc.
2. Responsibilities will include typical sys admin responsibilities including allocating disk space, adding users, performance monitoring, trouble-shooting, upgrades and patches, backing up, etc.
3. Work with dedicated Help Desk staff to handle problems.
4. Help this company handle technical integration of acquired companies.
5. You will have standard work hours and split responsibility for after-hours support. You will be the primary person 1 week out of every month and share the responsibilities as a secondary person the other 3 weeks of the month.
Experiences, Skills, Accomplishments and Qualities Desired:
1. Related degree a plus.
2. 4+ years system admin experience.
3. Strong HP-UX experience in a multi-server environment a must.
4. Solaris experience as well is highly preferred.
5. SAN experience is a big plus.
6. Tivoli Storage Manager experience would be a plus
7. BMC Patrol M experience would be a plus.
8. Must have very good people interaction skills and be a team player.
9. The willingness to carry a cell phone 24/7 and provide primary support 1 week per month and secondary support the rest of the month.
