Description: Messaging Architect / Engineer reports into the Manager of Web Technologies
and is located in Midtown Manhattan. This position is a key role within the company, having overall responsibility for the architecture, development, deployment and operations of Microsoft Exchange 2000 based Messaging Systems and Applications, as well as overall system metrics and administration of the messaging environment.
The successful candidate should be a self-starter who is capable of executing against those portions of the strategy within his / her space. He or she should have had documented successes in both the development and operations of messaging technologies for both internal and Internet environments in a medium size company. This position is will have no direct reports.
The Messaging Architect / Engineer must be an expert at Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft IIS, Microsoft Exchange and Outlook, and the Internet. The candidate should be fully at ease operating across the various levels of the organization, from the staff of the Mailroom to the Chairman of the company.
Additionally, the successful candidate should be comfortable working in an environment that is physically distributed around the globe, and has a diverse employee base.

Goals:
The goals of the position are as follows:
- Work with the Manager of Web Technologies to develop a comprehensive plan that supports business activities and processes associated with internal staff (Messaging related activities), business partners (investors in Real Estate Investment Funds, Brokers, Construction & development firms,
architects & engineers, etc.), and customers (tenants).
- Manage the development of Systems and Applications using core technology stack Microsoft IIS, ASP, EJB, BEA Weblogic, Documentum) in support of the business goals
- Develop an overall messaging strategy and architecture, leveraging Exchange 2000 to support both Internal & external communications needs. Leverage advanced features of Exchange 2000 to provide instant messaging and chat capabilities, consolidation of multiple mailboxes, and workflow capabilities as required.
- Manage the operations of a global Exchange 2000 environment.
- Develop and manage a collaboration environment, allowing users to participate in online meetings and reviews, share information on a project level, and share best practices.
- Develop a comprehensive metrics plan to support ongoing review of systems availability and utilization.
- Successfully integrate with proprietary and legacy applications needing to tightly integrate into the messaging environment.
- Successfully integrate legacy back office systems into web environment.

Responsibilities:

This position will manage the company's global Microsoft Exchange environment. This currently consists of approximately 1000 users around the world. The successful candidate will be responsible for a number of
functional activities designed to assure the success of the overall Messaging strategy. Broadly, responsibilities fall into the following areas:
* Architecture and Development - The successful candidate will be responsible
for architecting and managing the company's overall messaging environment. The position will be responsible for executing the company's migration to Exchange 2000, including the definition of a global Microsoft Exchange architecture designed to meet a wide range of goals, including tight
integration into a series of proprietary applications either currently under development or in the planning phases.

*Messaging Systems Operations
- The Architect / Engineer is responsible for the successful operations of Messaging Systems, including:
- The successful administration of the messaging environments,including Exchange, Instant Messaging and chat, collaboration and Internet mail (SMTP).
- Integration of Wireless devices, such as Blackberry, into the messaging environment. Management of the Blackberry server environment.
- Management of User Accounts, the Global Address Book, Distribution lists, etc.
- Manage overall mailbox management functions, such as mailbox quota limitations, content filters, compression, etc.
- Implement "Brick Level" backup and restoration.
- Develop a strategy, and architecture to assure continuous operation through fail-over, to support both service window requirements and Disaster Recovery.
- Work to assure the security of Internet based messaging systems through appropriate systems architecture and careful configuration of routers and firewalls, and provisioning of Virus Scanning software.
- Assuring all systems meet availability expectations, provide metrics reports defining availability and trending.

*Collaboration Systems
- Select and implement Internet based systems designed to provide global collaboration capabilities, including online meetings, team project sites, and document sharing.

*Vendor Relationship Management
- Manage relationships with selected vendors
to assure that all Global stakeholders needs are fulfilled.
*User Training
- Together with the Manager of Systems Effectiveness, develop training curriculums for business applications (where appropriate).

*Qualifications
- 7 to 10 years of work experience encompassing a broad range of IT and Business disciplines with specific emphasis on messaging systems and applications development & operations.
- A minimum of three years in a management role successfully managing an Microsoft Exchange messaging environment
- Superior Communications (Verbal & Written) skills
· Exceptional Multi-tasking and organizational abilities
· Superior Relationship Management track record across all members of the organization
· Sound Financial Management expertise
· Proven Vendor Management expertise
· Proven "Team Player"

Technical Qualifications
As previously stated, the Messaging Architect/Engineer must be an expert at
those technologies that constitute Tishman Speyer's Internet technology stack.
In particular:
· Microsoft Exchange Server 2000, Outlook 2000 and Outlook Web Components
· Microsoft Windows 2000 Server Professional and Enterprise) and Windows 2000 Professional (desktop)
· Microsoft IIS Server & ASP Development
· BEA Weblogic Application Server and Java Script and EJB Development

The successful candidate will also be thoroughly familiar with and comfortable in the technical and structural environment of the Internet.
The successful candidate will also have a thorough understanding of Internet related security, including secure sockets, certificates, tokens, etc.

In addition, the successful candidate should have a thorough understanding of single sign-on technologies, such as Netegrity Site Minder.
