Job Description
Responsible for mechanical engineering, design and development of components and assemblies relating to RTEC’s existing product line and in support of new product development as required from inception through steady state production. This includes all sustaining engineering functions and support of manufacturing as requested by Manufacturing Engineering and approved by the Mechanical Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities
· Develop concepts for core technology projects and complex designs to satisfy customer, engineering, and project team requirements using 3D CADD Solid Modeling Software. This includes the creation of 3D part models, 3D assembly models, 2D detail drawings and BOMs.
· Perform entry-level engineering, mathematical and scientific analysis as required to support design/development function.
· Apply basic engineering principals to ensure design safety and reliability.
· Perform testing and evaluation of materials and components.
· Ensure designs meet all current and future RTI design standards for fit, function and manufacturability.
· Ensure that designs comply with applicable industry standards as appropriate.
· Follow development methods procedures in documenting designs and communicating design intent, status and changes with project team members.
· Present designs to project team review members.
· Generate ECRs, PCRs, Procedures and White Papers as required.
· Manage tasks as required.
· Interface with and support drafting activities on a technical level.
· Manufacturing and Field Service support as required.
· Provide vendor support
Education/Required Skills
· Masters degree (M.A.) or equivalent or 4-10 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· 5 years experience in Thermal Dynamics
· 5 years experience in Airflow Analysis
· 10 years experience in Mechanical Assembly
· 5 years of experience in Optics Design
