Description
* Perform all database administration activities such as installation; upgrades; migration; database design; modeling and performance tuning; client/server connectivity; query optimization; back-up and recovery; space management; capacity planning; disaster recovery; database cloning and Implementation and maintenance of security features of databases and applications
* Provide various Oracle related infrastructure configuration, create, maintain, tune and administer Oracle databases in support of clinical applications.
* Support Clinical Trials application
* Coordinate the efforts of other application support staff regarding problem determination and resolution
* Coordinate the efforts of the Help Desk/Desktop Support unit to ensure consistent quality results
* Prepare system specifications for projects; create project plans; test matrix
* Coordinate with vendors and evaluate new technology

Qualifications
* Advanced knowledge of Oracle DBA tasks - preferably in Oracle 8i/9i
* Intermediate to advanced knowledge of UNIX (Sun Solaris) administration; Microsoft Office Suite; software change control and testing methodologies
* Understanding of database-based client-server software architecture
* Ability to troubleshoot system issues independently
* Implement and run Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software packages
* Understanding of application; system and hardware security issues; and constraints surrounding the implementation and use of computer software
* Strong interpersonal; negotiating; written and oral skills
* Experience in dealing with a regulated environment and/or validated system in the pharmaceutical industry
