Job Title: Supervisor, Midrange Operations
Salary: Based on experience
Location: Carlstadt, NJ
Responsibilities:
· Manage a team of Recovery Specialists. Provide high-level Midrange
Operations support, be a point of problem escalation, and a resource for the
most complex technical issues.
· Perform management duties to include performance appraisals, coaching,
counseling, interviewing and training.
· Interface and maintain strong relationships with Sales, Sales Support, and
Product Support to ensure product integrity, delivery and implementation.
· Assign and manage special projects that parallel corporate objectives.
Ensure timely, proper implementation according to departmental guidelines.
· Research, present and implement new products and service delivery
solutions. Ensure appropriate ROI is achieved.
· Introduce process improvements, infrastructure efficiencies and actively
participate in creation and enforcement of Best Practices.
· Ensure hardware availability through staff monitoring of hardware error
messaging and coordinate all recovery with vendors
· Coordinate deployment of automation wherever possible to reduce manual
handling
· Provide pre-sales and post-test support. Interact with potential clients
during building tours and presentations. Assist in post-test customer
discussions. Provide technical insight, support, and travel as needed.
· Document and report on Center Based Hardware Upgrades. Ensure change
control mechanisms are adhered to.
· Practice effective problem management. Utilize software tools to record,
escalate, resolve and track problems.
· Provide 24-hour availability; must wear pager and be able to respond to
emergency calls during off hours and weekends, as business requires
· Minimum of travel 20% as business requires.
Requirements:
· Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent work experience
required.
· Min 7 years management experience in a data center operations environment
is required.
· Advanced technical knowledge of operating systems software is required,
Must possess high expertise level in at least one of these areas (AIX,
OS400, HPUX, SOLARIS, OPEN VMS, NT
· Advanced technical knowledge of applications/database systems software
(TIVOLI, LEGATO, ORACLE, VERITAS, ARCSERVE) is highly preferred.
· Advanced technical knowledge of communications systems software is highly
preferred.
· Advanced technical knowledge of HP, SUN & RS6K platforms is required.
· Working knowledge of systems, storage, archival, and SAN software/hardware
solutions infrastructure components, connectivity methods, and network
communication tools.
· Previous experience in business continuity, outsourcing and/or co-location
industries highly preferred.
· Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present to
executive management.
· Exceptional project management, problem solving and negotiating skills.
· Strong organizational and time management skills
· Self-motivated team player. Ability to immediately contribute to a
fast-paced, deadline intensive environment.
· Proficiency in Lotus Notes, Windows based applications, WORD, EXCEL,
Powerpoint & MS Project.
