The resource will do backend testing for a workflow application for Insurance Data Services. Originally the data received will be in XML or fixed length format so being able to efficiently navigate to the data files and then running through system to verify changes and that data is accurate. The end client sets conditions on a regular basis which test cases are adjusted based upon insurance companies changing regulations. Therefore, any time a condition is modified or added this resource is responsible for re-testing the applicable test case or scenario. This person will be working with large amounts of data and thus will need data or business analysis skills preferably data analysis. This is NOT your standard front end manual/automated QA position. This is all backend processing of data that is submitted by client, then seeing what products are ordered, versus what comes out of the system.
This candidate will be expected be involved with projects from inception to finish and be able to work independently to conduct analysis and review to determine the best way of approach of testing a new product or solutions. They will be expected to work closely with project managers, business analysts, product owners, and development to ensure product/solutions are tested thoroughly and are able to lead other testers on projects.
Primary Responsibilities
Active participation in project meetings and team meetings
Designs/automates test flows within a data-driven framework.
Execute tests scripts for unit testing and regression testing for maintenance/project releases.
Analyze manual test cases and functional specifications to determine best approach for automating scripts.
Conduct analysis and review of requirements to create test scenarios
Provision of input for software test plans
Designing of test cases for test plans
Creation of the test scenarios in which tests are carried out
Review of software test cases and checking of the test cases
Performance of testing on functionality of software
Reporting defects and problems that occurred during the test process
Build standard regression test cases and ensure ongoing maintenance of the data
Using a tracking system to track reported problems with software
Preparation of software test evaluation reports
Implementation and participation in walkthrough of design session or test plan review sessions
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or equivalent
Thorough knowledge about testing methodologies and experience with Data Driven Testing
Experience with XML, fixed-length, csv, and other flat file formats
Working knowledge of batch processing
Working knowledge of software testing best practices and software development lifecycles
3-5 + years Linux/Unix experience using command line functions to traverse through file system. Experience using vi editor and proficient at using file manipulation and search capabilities
7 + years' experience in functional, negative, regression, integration, and acceptance testing with client/server applications, preferably a workflow applications
5+ years' experience writing SQL queries
3+ years' experience with Java, XML
1+ year' experience in Groovy, PHP
2+ years' experience in shell scripting
Working knowledge of regular expressions
Working knowledge of SOAPUI or similar web service testing tools
Working knowledge of SQL is able to execute complex queries
Ability to make modifications to shell/bash scripts
Ability to work with developers, project managers and business analysts to understand requirements and ensure that software is thoroughly tested
Ability to deal with changing priorities to complete tasks in a short period of time
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to quickly learn new tools and technologies
Excellent problem analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Flexible with hours depending on the project needs
Preferred Qualifications
Insurance Industry knowledge is a plus
Working knowledge in Agile Testing is a plus
