Embedded Software Engineer
Salary: $70 - 100K
Our Client develops embedded and data networking software that handles a lot of packets/frames on a
lot of ports/interfaces, performing protocol conversion/adaptation/interworking on the fly.
This requires experience with device drivers for multi-channel controllers, packet/frame forwarding
and switching, data comm protocol adaptation and interworking, and a wide variety of transmission
interfaces and protocols. The target systems typically support 10s to 100s of ports and 1000s of
active connections, and they are designed to optimize packet/frame throughput. Since our target
market for the products in the national/international telecom carrier or network provider,
performance (packet/frame throughput), availability, reliability, and interoperability
(standards-based) are key attributes of these products.
We need people with 3+ years experience developing the following kinds of software:
* Multi-channel datacomm controllers (HDLC, ATM, Ethernet) Telecom transmission interfaces (T1, E1,
T3, OC3, etc.)
* Data networking protocol implementation (frame relay, ATM, PPP, IP)
* Data networking protocol adaptation and interworking (frame relay to ATM, IP over ATM, IP over
Frame Relay)
* IP forwarding, routing, and switching (RIP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS Porting and adapting real-time
kernels)
* Low-level system programming (PCI programming, hardware initialization and configuration
diagnostics)
