Howard Systems International is seeking a <B>Senior Design Architect</B> to work on a contractual basis for six to nine
months with a large healthcare client in the Hartford, CT area. Local candidates are preferred, as relocation is not
available.
A Systems Architect must be a generalist with varied architecture skills. Candidates <U>MUST HAVE 5 years experience
MINIMUM</U> in large scale environments. This individual must have expertise working in a large scale computing
environment. Examples of this would be individuals who have worked for major Insurance, Banking and/or Financial
Services firms. Preference will be given to those individuals with Healthcare expertise.
As a Systems Architect, experience must include large scale systems architecture expertise ranging across a wide range
of technologies including:
<UL>
<LI>A mainframe backend with DB2, CICS, COBOL, and with other mainframe environments such as IMS and IDMS.
<LI>Mid tier experience must include experience on a UNIX platform including Solaris and AIX.
<LI>MQ Series for inter systems communications.
<LI>Database experience will include SQL Server, Oracle and UDB. We are not seeking a data architect for this position.
<LI>Experience working with front ends comprised of multiple servers and 10,000 + desktops utilizing MicroSoft
technology: Windows NT, applications with Java, WebSphere, J2EE, HTML, XML, and Visual Basic.
<LI>Design experience with Rational Tool Suite including experience with RUP and UML.
</UL>
<U>Duties will include:</U>
<UL>
<LI>Leading the creation and documentation of project design and architecture utilizing Technical Design Process.
<LI>Accountable for the technical design and architecture of projects within t heir scope and delivery constraints.
<LI>Works on Strategic initiatives, identifies, enhances, and promotes the use of common enterprise components and
frameworks across all development teams.
<LI>Enterprise Architecture Management, works in conjunction with Domain Teams, Enterprise Architects and Product
Architects to define and implement the core technologies and architectures.
</UL>
Individuals must display architecture expertise and have not moved into a pure project management role. The selected
candidates will be tasked with joining an architecture group responsible for designing large scale systems architectures
across multiple business units.
