Description:
The Senior Packaging / Mechanical Engineer will conceive, architect and develop
leading-edge photonics/optical product packaging designs. They will be responsible for
detailed thermo-mechanical design and analysis, from the concept phase through
production readiness. The Engineer will also collaborate with the product design management
team to insure design balance, manufacturability, functionality and reliability to
Telcordia standards; design and implement precision test methodologies of the
opto-mechanical package; develop tooling and fixtures for assembly and packaging; and
identify and manage key vendors for timely solutions.
Requirements:
*PhD or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Material Science or related field.
*Progressively broad experience developing and introducing new products for the
telecom/datacom/laser industry into manufacturing.
*Demonstrated expertise in detailed thermo-mechanical design and analysis, with the
focus on critical heat and stress management in novel structures and materials.
*Demonstrated expertise designing, analyzing, and managing the attachment
mechanisms, manufacturing induced effects, and ambient contributions.
*Comprehensive expertise in both first-order concepts and detailed FEA analysis.
*Thorough knowledge of design and layout tools such as SolidWorks and Cosmos.
*Experience designing for laser weld, solder, and adhesive attachments.
*Experience specifying components to external suppliers for fabrication.
*Experience with Telcordia (Bellcore) specifications and the practices necessary to
create and produce new products for the telecommunications market.
*Action oriented team player with strong communication skills.
*Ability to excel in a dynamic, team-oriented start-up environment.
