This year it's Dr. Peter M. J. Hess, Director for Religious Community Outreach at the National Center for Science Education. His topic: "Evolution and Modern Religious Thought", the religious, philosophical, and historical aspects of the evolution controversy. Dr. Hess teaches liberal studies at Saint Mary's College in Moraga, and is the author, with Paul L. Allen, of Catholicism and Science.
Sponsored by various community/educational groups and local science advocates, including the Anthropology and Biology Departments of Sacramento State University, the Astronomy and Physics Departments of Sacramento City College, the Humanist Association of the Greater Sacramento Area, AOF, Americans United for the Separation of Church and State, ACLU - Sacramento County Chapter, the Sacramento Organization for Rational Thinking, and the Social Responsibility Committee of the Unitarian Universalist Society of Sacramento.
