Hi everyone,

I’ve got a bunch of exciting news regarding the Art of Agile Development book club for you. First off, our live book club session on evolutionary design is tomorrow, and Kent Beck will be joining us! I’m particularly looking forward to this one. It starts at 8am Pacific and goes for 45 minutes. Space is limited to 100 people, so show up a few minutes early if you want to be sure of a spot. Details here:

Next Friday, on May 6th, we’re discussing situational awareness with Jason Yip. Jason’s always full of interesting ideas about teamwork and coaching, so it’s sure to be an interesting conversation. The free reading is up at the above link.

You may recall that we had a session with Martin Fowler a few weeks ago on refactoring. That was a great discussion with lots of interesting insights—I’m particularly fond of Martin’s story about using refactoring in code reviews on the C3 project. The recording is now available on my web site:

And finally, I can hardly believe it, but it’s been over six months of book club sessions! We’ve got some amazing topics and guests coming up in May and June. Jason Yip, as I mentioned above, Jessica Kerr, Kelsey Hightower, Todd Little, Johanna Rothman, Elisabeth Hendrickson, Sandi Metz, and even more to come. Thanks, everyone, for your support and participation!

Cheers,
James
