Hi all. My name is Kelly. I'm 24 years old and have been suffering from
panic attacks for going on 3 weeks. I have no idea where it came from
and every day i guess i just pray that it will go away just as quickly
as it came. I am seeing a therapist and taking cipramil and i haven't
had a full blown attack for a few days. I have this level of anxiety
though, physical symptoms and repeat thoughts (fear) that drive me up
the freaking wall. I was in the emergancy dept 3 times over the course
of a wk when i first started having them as i seriously believed i was
dying of a heart attack, when they totally checked me out and assured
me it was anxiety, i was totally convinced i was either going insane or
that they had 'missed something'. My partner hasn't been able to work
for two weeks and is just starting to leave me now for half days, as we
have two small kids (6yrs and 10wks). I am keen to learn as much as i
can, because i have found knowledge can be a powerful tool in reguards
to this. Just wanted to briefly intro myself anyways. TIA, Kelly.

Welcome Kelly. My panic attacks started at about the same age as
yours. I'm 47 now so its been a long time. Back when I first started
getting the attacks, they did not have the great meds that they do now
and people mostly had to suffer or be put on tranquilizers. I even had
one doctor ask me how my sex life was because he was attributing my
anxiety to lack of sex.

Like you, mine got so bad that my husband could not go to work.... I
wouldn't let him leave the house because I was afraid I'd die. At one
point I was even afraid of the sound of my own voice.

Thank goodness those days are behind me... I have been taking the SSRI,
Zoloft and my life is once again pretty normal..and I'm very confident
that within a short time yours will be too.
